From the Hearts of Others

Possibly the best physio treatment I’ve ever experienced. Kara had a real impact and I felt a prolonged difference immediately. This is not your typical ‘go do these stretches’ sessions… her hands on approach is unique and really gets to the root of the musculo-skeletal issues. I can’t thank her enough.

I feel very fortunate to be a patient of Kara’s. She a very professional, talented physiotherapist, and very thorough. She takes the time to listen, make an assessment and begin treatment all in the 1st visit, and was bang on in what I was needing. The “homework” that she has given me to do between sessions is also very helpful. I wish I had come to see her sooner.

Kara is a gifted physiotherapist. She blends traditional physio exercises with acupuncture and various techniques to target body problems holistically. I was treated for sciatic nerve issues and she targeted the nerves, pain, inflammation and muscle building.

Kara Foley

I'm the physiotherapist
Kara Foley, MScPT, HBKin, Acupuncture Provider, Craniosacral & Neural Manipulation Provider, ANF Therapist, Yoga & Meditation Teacher, ERYT200, YACEP.

Every body is unique and requires a personal approach in order to create balance and lasting results.

My approach integrates several modalities that I have learned over my 12+ years in the health & fitness industry. I am a “hands on” therapist and believe that before we can effectively strengthen we must lengthen and restore the effected tissues.

I integrate traditional physical therapy modalities such as ultrasound & electrotherapy, manual tissue and joint mobilization, medical acupuncture, neural manipulation, therapeutic taping, and specific exercise therapy to address each client’s unique needs. It is my goal to restore balance in your body to allow you to live the life you love.

Barrett Fitzpatrick

I'm the physiotherapist
Barrett Fitzpatrick, MScPT, HBKin

I believe everyone has the power to change their life with tools they already possess, and it is my goal to guide you to harness that power.

I see physiotherapy as a partnership between practitioner and client, and strive to understand each person’s individual physical, mental, spiritual and emotional states to create realistic treatment plans targeted towards specific and meaningful goals. I understand that everyone’s life circumstances are unique, and that we must examine the entire clinical picture in order to provide truly holistic care.

Since starting in 2021, I have a vast array of clinical experience, ranging from paediatrics to geriatrics, and from neurological conditions, to cardiovascular rehabilitation, to acute musculoskeletal and sports injuries, to chronic conditions and complex levels of care.

My treatment approach is first and foremost centred around thorough education on your own body and the specific condition(s) you are seeking help for. I use a combination of individualized exercise prescription, ultrasound, electrotherapy (TENS/IFC), manual soft tissue and joint mobilizations, kinesio-taping, and medical acupuncture, to help you achieve your desired results.

FAQs

Can you explain what your "holistic" physiotherapy is?

“Holistic” physiotherapy means integrating different modalities to work as a whole. Kara’s modalities include the ones below:

Traditional Physiotherapy – Assessment and treatment of injury or imbalance through the application of manual therapy, ultrasound, electrotherapy, and exercise prescription to reduce pain, improve tissue quality, and restore function.

Craniosacral Therapy – Using very gentle touch to release deep tensions in the body to relieve pain, stress, dysfunction , and to improve whole body health, immune function, and promote overall wellbeing.

Neural Manipulation –  Identifies and releases restrictions in the skull, brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves to achieve balance in the body and restore function from global restriction patterns. Through facilitating nerve conduction and restoring blood supply, communication in the body is re-established and the body is then able to adapt and restore itself to optimal health. Neural manipulation is excellent for post-trauma and whiplash injury, neck pain, low back pain and sciatica, headaches, TMJ, joint pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, brachial plexus injury, digestive disorders, and many other pain disorders.

Medical Acupuncture – The insertion of single-use, sterile, disposable needles into the underlying muscles and nerve tissues for pain and inflammation relief, circulation, and nerve stimulation. Medical acupuncture combines both meridian and muscle trigger points and is an excellent adjunct to most treatment plans. At Bodhi Holistic Physiotherapy it is billed under “physiotherapy” and cannot be billed as “acupuncture.”

Fascial Release – The fascia is a continuous tissue in our body that surrounds our bones, joints, and muscles creating long lines of both movement and restriction. When restricted it can have a global effect on our body creating lines of pull and altering our movement patterns. Through evaluation of varying positions, these restrictions can be identified and released through manual therapy and maintained with specific, long duration stretching.

ANF Therapy – Amino Neuro Frequency Therapy is the brainchild of Dr. Mikel H.G Hoff, an internationally renowned therapist. He developed this therapy in order to address some of the seemingly insurmountable problems of the nervous system. ANF Therapy consists of thin circular discs which are applied directly on the skin. During this therapy, neuro-frequencies are transmitted through the neurons in the body. These frequencies are in turn picked up by the nervous system to start an efficient self-healing and self-regulating process.

Heat Therapy (TDP Infra-red) – TDP lamps generate infrared energy with wavelengths from 1 to 50 microns. This is accomplished by heating a proprietary ceramic disc coated with 33 different minerals that, when heated, emit the Far spectrum of infrared energy that is most easily absorbed by the human body. Far infrared therapy has been found in several studies to boost circulation, decrease anxiety (feels like you are lying in the sun), increase tissue pliability/flexibility, and increase the core temperature contributing to immunity and improved healing response. Kara Foley uses it in conjunction with acupuncture as a way to nourish the body or heat tissue that we are looking to release (for example, if a client is having acupuncture on their lower back I will put the lamp over the area as well to amplify the treatment).

Yoga for Scoliosis – Evaluation of your unique scoliosis and customization of independent and assisted yoga poses to lengthen the spine, and strengthen postural muscles. Focusing on the breath and restoring length through daily practice can reduce pain and prevent progression of scoliosis. By learning what adjustments to make to optimize posture this will allow you to participate in yoga classes while concurrently doing your rehabilitation.

Some of these therapies are combined into one appointment type, such as “Stress Fix.” Click here for all of the booking options.
